Delivery of A350 XWB, World’s First Aircraft Using CFRTP for Primary Structure Parts, to Japan Airlines in Tokyo June 24 2019

2019 Lucintel Composites Market Insights, June 24, 2019

Teijin Limited informed that the A350 XWB aircraft, Airbus's new-generation extra-wide-body midsize jetliner using Teijin's Tenax TPCL carbon fiber thermoplastic consolidated laminate, was delivered to Japan Airlines (JAL) on June 11 and arrived at Haneda Airport in Tokyo on June 14.

As a top supplier to Airbus for over 30 years, Teijin has provided the aircraft maker with Tenax carbon fiber for a variety of aircraft families. In May 2014, Tenax TPCL was registered in Airbus's qualified products list for the world's first use of carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic (CFRTP) in primary structure parts for Airbus's aircraft. Tenax TPCL, which utilizes carbon fiber composites made with high impact, heat and chemical resistant PEEK (polyetheretherketone) thermoplastic resin, are supplied by Teijin Carbon Europe GmbH in Germany.
