The global demand for carbon fiber increased by 5.5% in Q2 2021, compared to Q1 2021. Carbon fiber prices increased by about ~13.8% in Q2 2021 compared to Q1 2021, price increase is mainly driven by supply chain disruption caused globally. Airbus and Boeing aircraft deliveries increased by 167% in Q2 2021 as compared Q2 2020 levels. Demand for carbon fiber was driven by growth in aircraft deliveries and increasing demand from automotive industry during Q2 2021. North America

In Q2 2021, the carbon fiber demand in North America increased from Q1 2021, and the demand increased significantly as compared to Q2 2020. Demand for carbon fiber increased as aircraft deliveries remained strong and increased usage of carbon fiber in automotive applications. The primary concern for the composites industry right now is managing the supply chain to access enough raw materials and other critical logistics to capitalize on the immediate demand.

Europe

In Q2 2021, demand for carbon fiber improved slightly in the European market compared to Q1 2021 and the demand is much higher as compared to Q2 2020. Light vehicle sales in Europe increased significantly and grew by 78% in Q2 2021 from Q2 2020. Aircraft deliveries in European region also witnessed very high growth in Q2 2021; it grew by 91% when compared to Q2 2020.

APAC
