Sigmatex, one of the world’s leading producers of carbon fiber textiles, has completed a significant phase of investment in its Carbon Textile Solutions (CTS) operation at its North American site in Orangeburg, South Carolina.
The investment will expand weaving capacity by up to 50% due to the introduction of a new production cell, which will support growing demand for Sigmatex products in Aerospace, Space and Defense applications.
Commenting on the investment, Sigmatex CEO Paul McMullan said: “Over the last few years we have focused heavily on our quality, service level and technical capability. This has been well received by the US market and investments like we have made here will be the catalyst for us to grow strongly in the region over the next 5 years.”
Built in 2015, the 75,000 sq. ft production facility in Orangeburg is a modern, purpose-built site. It is Sigmatex’s newest and most modern plant, optimized for efficient manufacturing and scalability, boasting proprietary Flat Tow technology along with AS9100D and DNV accreditation. It is the main site for supply across North America.
