ESI Virtual Prototyping in Composites Design and Manufacture Seminar on 18 September 2012, Bristol, UK

A one-day seminar is being hosted by the National Composites Centre and dedicated to Virtual Prototyping in Composites Design and Manufacture.

This seminar is designed for engineers and decision makers from industry, academia and research centers who wish to increase their understanding of Simulation Technology and its application in the field of Composites Design and Manufacture.

The following topics will be discussed: Weaving and Braiding, Drapeability of dry fabrics, Various RTM processes, Forming of Prepreg sheets, Autoclave and Out Of Autoclave curing, Shape Distortion and Springback, Performance (static, dynamic and high velocity impact loads)

Examples from the below sectors will be presented: Aerospace, Automotive, Marine, Renewable Energy.

There will be a collection of presentations from Academia and Industry, as well as from the ESI’s Composites Team. Detailed programme will be available within the next 2 – 3 weeks and will include speakers from Bombardier, Spirit Aero-Systems, Aston Martin, University of Southampton and University of Nottingham.

The National Composites Centre is bringing together dynamic companies and enterprising academics to develop new technologies for the design and rapid manufacture of high-quality composite products. Key objectives of the NCC include: Be the hub of the UK's effort to develop and implement rapid composite manufacturing technologies and systems. Provide direction and focus for fundamental research and collaborative links with UK universities. Help to develop and co-ordinate training to support the skills base necessary for applying advanced and specialist composite technologies.
