Dow and Juffali to Make Polyurethane Feedstocks in Saudi Arabia
Dow Chemical Co.’s Formulated Systems unit will work with Saudi Arabian conglomerate E.A. Juffali & Bros. to build a plant to make polyurethane feedstocks in Jeddah.
The agreement “reinforces Dow Formulated Systems’ commitment to our customers and the industries we serve in the Middle East,” unit general manager Juan Antonio Merino said in a March 3 news release.
Polyols made at the plant will be used in Dow’s PU systems. The Formulated Systems unit also makes epoxy materials. The plant is slated to open later this year. Midland, Mich.-based Dow has worked with Juffali on numerous projects since 1976. Juffali, based in Jeddah, operates in numerous industries ranging from chemicals to construction to telecommunications.
