Cytec to Supply Composite Materials of Worth US$800 Million to Bombardier Aircraft Programmes

Cytec Industries' Engineered Materials division has won contracts to supply carbon composite materials for Bombardier Aerospace’s new CSeries and Learjet 85 aircraft programmes. Cytec has also won a contract to supply advanced materials for current Bombardier aircraft programmes. Cytec expects these contracts to generate revenues of approximately US$800 million over the next 10 years.

Cytec's CYCOM 890, a liquid resin infusion system, will be used for the manufacturing of structural elements of Bombardier’s CSeries aircraft wing. The product is manufactured at Cytec Engineered Materials’ Wrexham, UK, facility.

Bombardier Aerospace has also selected additional Cytec materials for the Learjet 85 aircraft programme’s primary and secondary structures.

“We pride ourselves on the ability to deliver advanced material solutions that address complex and varied customer requirements,” states Bill Wood, President of Cytec Engineered Materials. “We congratulate Bombardier for their intelligent innovation in the use of advanced composite materials and manufacturing technologies.”
