Polypropylene Film Group Treofan Quits Cast PP Film

Polypropylene film group Treofan, formed out of the former Basel Moplefan and Celanese Trespaphan businesses, has pulled out of cast polypropylene with the closure of its plant in Lamezia in Italy. The company says that cast polypropylene was not in line with its focus on high performance biaxially oriented polypropylene, labels and specialty packaging, technical films and tobacco films. The closure of the plant was planned in August 2008, and it has now been sold to two local businessmen, one of whom has bought the machinery and the other the site.
