ELASTO Helps Swedish Inventor Keep Things Cool

Carolina Sundberg is the inventor of Frozzypack, a unique lunchbox with integrated cooling that helps to keep food cool and fresh until lunch. ELASTO developed the Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) which is used in the lid seal.

The inspiration behind Frozzypack came from Sundberg’s frustration with sending away her children to school with lunches that she knew would be un-fresh before it was time to eat them. “My daughter was going to skate with the school. At 7am I packed pancakes in her lunchbox that would be eaten 5 hours later. I wanted her to put the lunchbox in a cooling-bag with an icepack, but my daughter did not want that. She had enough to carry; skates, helmet, lunchbox and drink. I tried to just put the icepack in the bag, but that did not work either. I thought - why is there no lunchbox with cooling in it?”

With Frozzypack the food keeps fridge-cold up to seven hours at room temperature. The lunchbox lid contains a non-toxic, cool-keeping gel that after ten hours in the freezer guarantees fresh food until lunch and later.

ELASTO developed a TPE which needs to form a tight seal for the lid. The Dryflex TPE is food approved with a Normpack certificate verifying food contact status according to the Normpack norm which includes the EU Commission regulation 10/2011 on plastic materials and articles intended to come into contact with food. The material is BPA free as well as being dishwasher and freezer friendly.
